Trap and Tranquility is Lavish LB’s vibe. Between balancing a bright college football career, developing his DIVINE brand & independent music label Foxglove Records; Lance finds zen through hard hitting trap drums, fast flows and autotuned melodies.

Lavish LB is no stranger to the spotlight. A star on the field and in the studio, the UC Davis Football player is known for his strong performances and charisma. Repping Montebello alongside his frequent collaborators 2020VZN & Abraxaz; Lance and co. make it a point to create art that they love and assures his fans that is only the beginning.
Lavender takes the ideas and sounds Lavish LB & Abraxaz messed around with on the SPEED RACER PACK EP and expands on it on this eight song project. This is a project of subtle flexes, autotune crooning, and positive vibes. There is a strong 2016 Travis Scott presence throughout the sound of Lavender that can be found in Lavish LB’s vocal performances and runs. Living lavishly is the topic of the conversation in every song. The artist stays true to his name and evidently has a lot of fun doing so.
“Focus” is a great opener for the tape because it is one of the stronger performances by Lavish LB on the project. The structure of the song feels cohesive, and he holds out all the right notes while he raps to make effective use of the autotune. “Pink Polo” swerves the sound of the project coming in at third. The beat feels light, slightly funky and fun while still carrying the trap influence he likes to rap over. Shortly after the track, we see an echoey spacious melodic trap song with Foxglove Records labelmate, Abraxaz, that plays around with the song structure formula of the project, which sets us up for the “Abraxaz Interlude.” The track disrupts the project in the best way possible. It is an alternative R&B song about vulnerability and infatuation in the middle of the project. While the content of the song is vastly different from everything else in the project; there is still a sense of correlation to the universe of Lavender. The production carries the tranquil trap aesthetic while highlighting Abraxaz’s penmanship and vocal ability. This interlude feels professional with its placement and production. It truly elevates this project to another level. “24 Hours” is my favorite Lavish LB song off this project and off his entire discography. LB creates an effective Trap Pop song with a simple hook, “I got 24 hours in a dayyyyyy.” Simple, brilliant, brief and catchy. The structure of the song and its songwriting elements make it one of the strongest on Lavender.
Overall, I throughly enjoyed the project and the ideas it presented. Lavish LB knows what he is doing and it is just the start of another chapter in his artistry and discography. I would love to see him experimenting with his vocals. Listeners get glimpses of what Lance is capable of with tracks like “24 Hours”. It is all a matter of having that extra push on the vocals, mixing and messing around with the structure of the song. Foxglove Records artists Lavish LB & Abraxaz have chemistry together and it is apparent with their track record of collaborations. This project demonstrates that Lance and Abraxaz are ready to progress further into their artistry. I am excited to see how they continue to experiment sonically and evolve their sound as these next couple of months go by.
